She saw the tower, she saw the Louvre. France day 05
Song: Lost in Translation – Julie Atherton
Quote: We saw the tower, check.
Mood: Giddy
The first night in the hostel was okay. I was so tired, after not getting a lot of sleep thanks to some people, I didn’t really care any more that I was sleeping on a board. Quickly got up to take a shower, We discovered the showers couldn’t be turned on at the same time. If you turned them both on, your water supply was weak. And the water went from ice cold to blistering hot. Suddenly the water came out a lot stronger than before, so we guessed that the people upstairs had finished their showers hahaha. And when Ilse turned off her shower, my shower was perfect xD Quictel.kly got dressed and went down for breakfast. Breakfast was even worse in this hostel. It consisted of apple sauce and a bread roll. There was also some coffee or tea.
My dad had advised me to go see the tomb of Napoleon. So that was what we did
Took the train to Hotel Des Invalides. It’s this huge church/temple building that they build in memory of the soldiers. But it took too long to build, so they turned it in to a hospital and church. Napoleon’s grave is there too. The tomb itself is rather boring, but everything around it is so gorgeous. I think we spend hours there taking pictures. People must have thought we were crazy though. At one point, Ilse was sitting on the floor taking pictures, while I was hanging upside down over the balcony to take pictures of the ceiling. Let me tell ya tho, that is not an easy position to hang in and it hurts like hell when you go back in to a normal position. I’m glad I’m felxible tho, I didn’t have any problems with my back afterwards xD We had a light snack at the restaurant there, it was rather expensive so we opted to get lunch somewhere else.
After spending a few hours there, we went outside and in to the flower garden they had. But it only took me a minute to realise that they had planted all the flowers in exactly the same order. so if you saw one side, you saw everything. So then we headed over to the Musee Rodin. Which is a museum with a garden full of statues. You could visit the museum and garden together for 7 euro, or just the garden for 1 euro. The garden it is then. Well, that was a really gorgeous place. We first headed towards this statue that looked like the top of some church, but only done in steel wires. It’s an impressive piece of work I tell you. Then we headed over to a statue that looked like 4 munks in agony xD. I saw this gorgeous guy next to it on his phone, tho
And when I couldn’t get my camera to operate as I wanted to, I sat down on the bench to take some pictures. That gorgeous guy I just mentioned, came to sit next to me. So I looked at him, and then at Ilse and I whispered to her, moving my head in jerky movements towards the guy xD I think Ilse started drooling right there on the spot, theehee. Well then the guy continued and we followed him towards the next statue.
Have you ever seen that horror movie, Insomnia? With the girl that goes in to the house and spots this door with twisted bodies coming out of it? Well, that’s sorta what this next statue looked like. It was a giant door with bodies inside it, twisting themselves this way and that. It was actually rather awesome. Took a few pictures of that *some of which included the gorgeous guy muhahaha*. And then we went on to every statue we could find, making pictures of them and us with them. We took a little breather on a lounge chair
Ate some Madeleine cakes and fed them to pigeons (keeping a bag of Madeleine cakes in your backpack isn’t a good idea, they crumble too easily). Then we went in search of The Thinker, one of those famous statues that everybody knows. It was supposed to be close to the entrance, but we seemed to have missed it completely
We did find it tho… it was next to that steel wire statue, ahahaha xD But there were bushes and trees and flowers around the statue, which sorta hid it from plain sight.
Well after we found the Thinker, we had seen everything (didn’t see the gorgeous guy again tho
) so we went to our next stop. The Eiffel Tower
**she saw the Tower: check** First made a quick stop at a supermarket for some lunch, which we ate at the park in front of the Tower. It was rather warm that day, so we spend quite some time in the park, eating lunch, making some action shots with our camera (which turned out rather nice too) and getting some rays. I actually cut my finger while doing one of the action shots >_> so then I no longer felt like it. Haven’t the slightest idea what I cut myself on. There was so much junk in the grass :s people are disgusting creatures sometimes. Why do they have to throw their beer bottle caps in the grass? Or their cigarette butts? DISGUSTING!
We then walked underneath the Tower, where we spotted some army guys *cute guy there too
with a big gun theehee* And thanks to Ilse, I finally figured out how to change the ISO settings on my camera! Stupid button >_< why did you have to be on the front of the camera *rolls eyes* So took loads of pictures there too. Then we crossed the Seinne and went in search of the metro station. At one point I saw this gorgeous statue and wanted to take a picture…. I couldn’t and for the life of me couldn’t figure out why my camera wasn’t working. Then Ilse asked me “do you have space left on your memory card?” so I checked… “uuh no? My card is full!” and I didn’t bring my other card, so I was stuck. I had to go through all my pictures *that’s 1200 pictures in case you wanted to know* and had to start deleting some of them so I could continue taking pictures.
We found the metro station and took the metro to the Arch The Triomph. We sat there for a while until we were completely rested
and then walked back underneath the road towards the metro station. Took the train there to the Obelisk, which is where the Louvre is too ^_^But more importantly… that’s where the Fair was!! I love Fairs *nods* It was quite big too
they had lots of food stands and games and rides.. First we sat down for some coffee, where we saw another cute guy (that’s where the waiter was….)and then we went to the Fair.
The first thing we encountered were sliding machines. Now, if you know me (or if you have read my London blogs) you know that these machines are my favourite things to play! The machines are simple, you add coins in the top, they fall through the machine and the machine slides back and forth and it pushes out coins and points. You collect the points for prices
It sort of works like a slot machine, but you get more chances at winning
Well, so I changed money for coins and we spent almost an hour and a half there. Every time I told Ilse that I was almost done, I got another bucket load of coins :O It just went on and on.. but I did end up winning a lot of points
I had 35000 in total! Which one me a karaoke set! WOOHOO!!
Well after the sliding machines, we went to this fishing game where Ilse had to fish little ducklings out of the water. Well, she got one and the guy told her to keep going o_O so she kept going until her basket was full and overflowing. Don’t know what the point of it was, but she won herself a princess jewellery set hahaha. She put it on immediately too
It was those fake tiara, earrings and bracelets that caught a lot of attention, but after a few minutes, we didn’t even notice anymore. We then went on the swingcarrousel, which was really awesome. After that ride, we went bag fishing, where you have to fish a bag of a plank. I won a dart board and Ilse a LOVE TOU pillow. Then I did this shooting game where I won a bubble blower.
Even though we hadn’t done much at the Fair, we were rather spent, so we sat down at this big fountain that actually had fish in them. You couldn’t see the fish, because the water was all murky, but I saw the tell tale signs of fish
the ripples in the water, the little waves. So to prove it to Ilse, I through some crumbs from the Madeleine cakes in the water and immediately the fish attacked it hahaha. Well, since we didn’t have much else to do, and it was getting late, we headed back to the hostel, to see if I could upload my pictures to my web site, but for some reason it wouldn’t allow me to do so. Said the limit had been exceeded. Damn… Well then we just checked Facebook and Twitter and went up to our room (four flights of stairs when you have been walking all day already is not nice). Turned out Kathrym and the other girl had left already and instead there was another girl sleeping in Kathryn’s bed and just like the night before, some girl barged in to the room just as we were about to sleep. Ugh…. French people…
