London Blog: Day 3 (Best Present ever! High five!)
Quote : This is the best present ever – Kerry Ellis upon seeing her Wicked Clogs.
Song : I want it all – Champions of Rock
Mood : Hyper
On Saturday, we woke up, got dressed and headed to the Tesco for breakfast again. As soon as we got everything we needed, we headed out for Camden Lock for some shopping. We looked at some shops, but we didn’t buy anything, because we first wanted to go to Starbucks for some coffee. You gotta love your Starbucks in the morning! We sat up stairs in the sun for a bit, eating our breakfast and drinking our coffee. We looked at some other shops and stands and then it was time for us to go back to the Dress Circle because we had a performance to go to. We took the tube there and we were pretty much the first ones there. We did some more shopping around there and suddenly I spotted Julie Atherton! I was like WOAH!!! It’s JULIE!! (obsessed much?) And then we were talking and I glance back to the stairs and suddenly I see this GORGEOUS guy walking past and my mind goes blank half way through my sentence *chuckles* even Sophie said I was like "blah blah blah bl… duuuuuuuur" hahahaha XD For your information… Paul Spicer walked by. So then we got like front row viewing positions for the performance of Julie and Paul doing "The Last 10 Minutes" from the musical "The Last 5 Years". And when they were done, Julie Atherton performed another song but with Paul Keating and Leon Lopez. They did "Louder Than Words" from the musical "Tick…Tick…BOOM!". Well, let me tell you this. IT WAS AMAZING! I was so happy to have been there. Kris and I talked to Paul Spicer afterwards and he was so sweet and kind. He asked if we were going to see the show, but since we were on holidays and leaving the next day we couldn’t. So he suggested we extend our journey, bhahaha XD I wish we could have! I would have loved to see both shows and Kerry Ellis’ last Wicked.
After I got my picture taken with Julie and Paul, we went to the Park to get some sun, as it was such a lovely day. We mostly ate and slept and tried to get Jul to wake up. She wouldn’t wake up, so we said things like "He look it’s a naked Oliver Tompsett" but that didn’t wake her up either. After the park we headed back to the Hostel to change. Then we went to the Apollo Victoria Theatre to see if the cast of Wicked would come out between shows. I saw Oli!! I asked him to sign my shirt… and he took a double take
I was wearing my Oliver Tompsett Street Team shirt. He saw it and with a big smile said "well! Look at THAT!" With that raw deep voice he sometimes has
I loved it. So I took of my backpack to show him the back of the shirt, since that said "OLIVER TOMPSETT STREET TEAM". So he saw and I turned back and he’s like “That’s so cool. HIGH FIVE!” and he actually held up his hands
yeah… I slapped it!! woohoo! So then he asked me where I wanted it signed and I told him “anywhere is fine” so he grinned at me and went “hehehe”. Which made me giggle. He decided my shoulder would be an appropriate place to sign. But since he couldn’t get it right, Sophie needed to help him stretch the fabric
.
And he pointed at the picture and said "That actually turned out really cool!" and I’m like "I know, right?" And then we had our picture taken
My head looks about twice as big as his and you can’t really see my shirt in it, but Kris had to lean WAAAAAAY back to make it, so I’m cool with it, hahaha
We then waited for Kerry, but she didn’t come out. So then we had met up with Beth and Leah and some of the others and we figured we could go get some dinner while we waited for the evening show to start. When we were done, we went back to the theater (which was across the street, since we ate at Victoria Station) and we bought some more things at the Ozdust Boutique (which is where they sell Wicked merchandise). I bought my Wicked lapel pin, because I lost the one I bought in New York
And then we looked for our seats. Which were next to the hallway to the toilet XD which is always good, because we always have to pee during the interval.
The show started and the whole crowd went sorta mad when Kerry came on
It was nice to see her again in London and hear her riffing away. She did sound a little stuffy as if she had a cold though
but she still did her riffing
which was AMAZING *I know, Soof, I wasn’t allowed to use that word anymore*. Dianne and Oli were great too
Harriet was laughing a lot or so it seemed. The first thing we actually noticed was that it seemed like everyone was hurrying to catch the 10 oçlock train. Dianne was FLYING through her lines :O but her Thank Goodness was awesom. During one scene where Dr Dillamond is asking who is to blame for somethng. Nadine Cox pointed at Dianne, who quickly slapped her hand away. And Dianne’s "ooooh helloooo" was too hilarious during Popular. I think it was also the first time that Kerry did a very low voice during What Is This Feeling. She normally says "your voice" very high pitched, because that’s how Dianne talks as Glinda. But this time she did a very manly voice XD Which is more like how Dianne sounds in real life, hahaha. Dianne doesn’t sound manly, but compared to her Glinda voice, her normal voice is low.
Oliver was great as always. Harriet Thorpe had her comedy down, I was laughing so hard.
So after the show we went to the stage door. We had to go see Kerry of course
. First we had Harriet and the people playing Boq and the Wizard come out. I had some autographs, but what I was waiting for was Kerry
And when she came out I nearly died with excitement. She went through the long line of people that stood before us. In the mean time my heart started pounding faster and faster. So then she comes up to me and I tell her that we got a present for her. At first she was just like "aww" you know because she gets ton of presents. Then I tell her that since we are Dutch, we got her something typically Dutch. We got her clogs. At this point, I held up the clogs I had been holding behind my back all the time. And you could actually see her eyes lit up. So I tell her that I hand painted these clogs for her, as a leaving present. And this guy next to her *he usually holds her stuff* was like "Are those Wicked clogs?!" and I’m like "yeah?" And Kerry did this intake of breath and she’s like "Do you know who would love these? Do you know Brian May? The guy I did my cd thingy with?" So we’re all going "yes!" and she tells us how Brian May is mad for clogs and how he’s gonna be SO jealous of the clogs.
And the guy behind Kerry asks me if I handpainted them myself, so I tell them I did. And Kerry and he both go how this is like the BEST PRESENT EVER! So we were all like cheering our heads off, hahaha
And I go on telling her that we filled the clogs with Dutch treats and that she could actually wear the clogs. So the guy asked me if we bought size midget -_- and I’m like "No, we guessed the size, since she’s about the same height as me". So Kerry looks at me with her big, beautiful eyes and they light up and she’s like glowing, going "I’m SO excited!" But it’s actually too much to explain, but luckily someone filmed it **thank you SO much, who ever you are!!** and you can see video from the part from where she asks us if we know Brian May HERE . So then I ask her for an autograph and if we can take a picture with her. And she’s like SURE!! And she signed my program booklet and went like "uuuh… what do I write…" and she put my Sharpie down again and wrote ‘Thanks so much! Love Kerry’, which was like the most she ever signed my booklets with, hahaha
And then we all got together for the picture and I’m like telling her how we will miss her and she should come to Holland because they were gonna do Wicked there too and we need an Elphaba. And she laughs and the picture is taken
And then Ilse also had a present that the kerry-ellis.net fanclub made for her (it was a musical about Kerry’s life) but I think Kerry was still a little excited about her clogs, bhahahaha. Because the guy asked her if she wanted to have the clogs put in her dressingroom or if she was taking them with her. And she was holding on to them tightly and said "NO! I’m taking these home with me!!" So then we were joking about how she was going to call Brian May as soon as she got home to make him jealous XD
So after we were still on our Kerry high, we waited for Oliver to come out and I had him sign my booklet and asked him "can I be reaaaally cheeky and have another "picture with you" and he was all like "sure, YOU can" so I smiled at him and I told him "yeah, coz … I really like that shirt". And at first he smiled and said thank you, but then he was like "wait a minute, did you just say you loved my shirt?" and I’m like "uhm… yeah?" and he was surprised at first and then it hit him and he was like "ooooh get it, coz it’s Superman and with the song and all" which is one of my favourite songs from his album
So after that we took the tube back to the hostel and we were all singing in the tube. People must have thought we were crazy, but hey, when you’re on a Kerry Ellis high… it’s okay! So when we arrived there, we quickly took my laptop and jotted everything down that happened incase we forgot, hahaha. But then we were all pretty dead and went to sleep. Seeing as it was after midnight and everything already.
