We’re of to see the Wicked… The Wickedest Day in Oz!

Well, I guess I really should write again, as it’s been about half a year? **whooooops**

So, let me tell you what I did in the weekend of Halloween. I dressed up for Halloween for the first time :D Yeah, coz here in the Netherlands, we don’t really celibrate Halloween (we have St. Maarten, which is similair, except no one dresses up and it’s on the 11th of November).

Okay, let me start at the beginning, before I get ahead of myself. On Friday, I went to Sophie’s house and we spent some time shopping for the last few things (I forgot to bring a towel :O ) and we repacked our suitcases a few times, to make sure we weren’t over the size limit. Ryan air only allows you to bring one handbag and it’s not allowed to weigh heavier than 10 kilos (22lbs). So then on Saturday morning, a friend of hers drove us to the airport, where we went through security and waited for our gate. We discussed how amazing it is that people can be too late for their flight, when you have to be at your gate like 2 hours upfront.  We then went through our gate and in to the plane. The weather was a little bad and we heard there were some heavy winds, but we would arrive al little earlier than planned.

When we landed in London, I nudged Sophie to look at the crap weather outside and we touched ground just at the same time. We had no luggage to wait for so we were able to walk through everything, had our passport checked and headed for the bus. We made the 10 o’clock bus and then still had an hour to go before we would be at Liverpool Street Station. So we listened to music and tried to sleep a little more. But then we arrived there and quickly got ourselves some Oystercards and went to the hostel. It was pretty close to our previous one, so we pretty much knew where to go.
When we arrived at the hostel we got told our rooms weren’t ready yet. So we asked if there was somewhere we could change and we could do that in the upstairs bathroom. Turned out the bathrooms had showers in them, so they were pretty big :) which was a good thing. I did Sophie’s green make-up and eyeliner and everything after I got changed myself. We got some nice compliments from people that passed by, even one girl telling us she went to Wicked Day the day after :D Which was something we were going to as well. So then a group of girls came down and started talking about how they forgot their room key. I asked them which room they were in and they said “room 16″. I told them we were in the same room so I had the same key. I lend them my key and one of them asked me if we were kiwis aw well. To our surprise the girls in our room were from New Zealand :D so I told them we were from the Netherlands, but we were going to Australia and New Zealand in about 3 years :)

So when were were all ready to go, we took the tube to where we were meeting Ilse, who was coming to Westfield London with us ^_^ But when we got there, we had no idea where to go really. Westfield shopping centre is HUGE! So we walked around for like 10 minutes until we finally found the place where more people were dressed up :P when we got there some guy came up to us and asked us if we knew there was a World Record Attempt going on and we told him, yes we knew because that was what we were at Westfield for :P So he told us a little more and then we started looking around. We were just able to get our picture taken with one of the cast of Wicked. Which just happened to be.. SARAH EARNSHAW!! **squeeeeee** So we quickly got in line for that :D good thing I brought my camera ^_^ While waiting in line, Sarah happened to look over at my dress and she saw my Glinda dress. So she pointed, smiled and nodded :D I was happy about that! Then I had my picture taken with her and she commented me on my dress, told me it looked really great and how it almost looked like the real one. And I told her that was what I was going for :P SO she asked me if I was coming to Wicked Day the next day, and I told her of course ^_^. After that we walked around, visited some shops until we all had to come in to this closed off circle. Once there Sarah took the stage with the host. They held a Cackle Competition where the price was free tickets for Wicked. They needed three people and Ilse got picked out :D hey asked her who she was dressed up as and Sarah said ‘obviously she’s dressed as Galinda. She’s dressed as me!!” Ilse didn’t win, but she was on stage with Sarah Earnshaw. Then the host said Sarah was going to perform Popular, and Sarah said she needed her own Elphaba for that, so they needed someone from the audience. Sophie raised her hand and Ilse and I were pointing at her and lo and behond!! Sophie got picked to be Sarah’s Elphaba :D **queue green eyed monster kicking in** So Sophie got strangled and carassed by Sarah XD and then we got counted and broke the world record :D There was also a raffle, but non of us won :/

After that we went back to the hostel, where we could finally get in to our rooms. So we quickly changed and showered and after that we headed to the Avenue Q theater :) we got tickets and went to eat. Ilse had gone home and went to a Halloween Party, but Sophie and I weren’t feeling like going much. So Avenue Q instead, with Cassidy Janson :D It was greeaaaat!! After the show we had our picture taken with her and I did with some others ^_^ we got talking with this one girl from France, who just happened to adore Dylan Moran, who’s show was in the building next to Avenue Q. This building also happened to be the Apollo Theater, which was where we were supposed to go the next evening. So then we went home and went to sleep.

I woke up late at night because our roommates were coming home from some party and they were rather loud (although Sophie hadn’t heard a thing). Then on Sunday we got some breakfast first, then went back to get dressed up again, for Sunday was supposed to be Wicked Day! :D We discovered that our nice roommates had put on Sophie’s witches hat and my Glinda dress. which was not a good thing  We got some more compliments after we went out in to the street. And when we arrived at Victoria Station we met up with Ilse and walked towards the place where Wicked Day was to be held. When we got there, there was a long queue. Some people were dressed up and others weren’t. As far as I could see, I was the only one wearing the Bubble Dress :o   We got were let in and walked around for a while. You had to pay with these special Wicked Tokens, which were one pound each. The first thing we saw was a performance by some choir and Sarah Earnshaw. So we scooted close to the stage and noticed Sarah looking down at us several times *bahahaha xD * and then we went and played some of the games. Sophie one a special picture of the cast, Ilse won at can tossing and later on again with a game of guessing this square on the Land of Oz map. Which is where Sophie won her cat picture. Ilse won it to. I won didly squat **queue green eyed monster with revenge* Then we also did this workshop for acting and singing, which just resulted in us doing half of “The Wizard and I” it was great fun! And George Ure was there and during our song, he pointed up and down my dress and mouthed “I love your dress” so I mouthed back “thank you” and he mouthed “it looks really good!” and I just smiled like crazy **thanks sis, for helping me make this dress!** So then we went back downstairs again and the Auction was on. We looked at Dianne walking around with this pompom in her hand and the prices going up until like 180 pounds. We were just wondering what the hell they were bidding at o.O turned out it was for the shoes that Dianne was wearing xD
So then we also watched how this one guy was wearing wellies *rainboots for those unknown with the word wellies* and he had the right one painted with Elphaba and the left one with Glinda. Just like the clogs I had painted for Kerry Ellis in May :o so I talked to him and we discussed the clogs and the wellies :D he was funny to saying “so I actually just stole your idea?” and I was like YEAH!! hahahaha xD We also had our picture taken with Alexia Kahdime, Dianne Pilkington and Harriet Thorpe :) Dianne commented me on my dress as well. :D Then we went and painted something for the Wicked board. Sophie drew my Elfrogba and the guy that hung up the pictures said how amazing it was **thanks :P ** and I drew my Piglinda, and the guy said that that was the best picture ever and he was going to take a picture of it with his phone. I laughed, but he said he was dead serious :P Then we walked around some more, had some green candyfloss, got Sarahfied!! *had Sarah Earnshaw do our make-up* and Sarah said how she thought the blue eyeshadow I was wearing suited the blue Bubble dress much better than the pink make-up she had to wear in Wicked :P add a little blush blush blush, glitter glitter glitter, bronze bronze bronze, and that was another 10 minutes of Sarah high! So at one point Sophie had to go and get cleaned up (ie: wash off her green make up and such) and Ilse and I stayed behind; we had the Michael Bruce concert that evening. So Ilse and I stayed for the raffle. Again, I won NOTHING   Ilse won free tickets for Wicked >_> so we went back to the drawing table, where I had started a Wicked painting of Elphaba, just before the raffle. The people there were commenting on how good that picture was, so they stuck it to the top of the board :D

I guess I have no luck what so ever (no luck in love, no luck in game) I’ll stick to drawing or something..

So then we met up with Sophie at the Pizzahut for dinner. We had to wait 15 minutes before they came to take our order. than another 15 minutes for they brought our pizza. Then we had about 15 minutes to scarf down the food and drink, go to the bathroom, pay the bill and go towards the Apollo Theater for Michael Bruce. In one word **and I promised I wouldn’t use this word anymore, but I just have to** A-FREAKIN-MAZING!!! I swear! The songs were amazing!! the performers were amazing!! We saw people such as Michael Bruce (who wrote all the songs performed and performed some songs himself too) Paul Spicer *who has such a soothing voice, I wanted to hear it forever, plus he aint that bad looking either ;) * then there was Sarah Larke, gorgeous voice! Julie Atherton, who kills you with laughter. Sarah Earnshaw **she’s baaahaaaack!! muhahahaha** and then Mark Evans ((kill me I have gone to heaven… I’m gonna marry this guy I swear!)) and several others who were just as amazing. Sarah Earnshaw killed with her version of the Gutter Song. Mark had me hanging on each word with his Money Honey, a duet he did with Michael Bruce. Julie Atherton gave two wonderful performances with Children, a very moving christmas song, and Not In A Disney Way. A song about an aspiring Disney Princess who doesn’t seem to be able to travel that yellow brick road, like her peers. She also gossips abour Sleeping Beauty and Snowwhite :P I think it was the best thing I’ve ever gone to :D So obviously we had to go to the stage door. I talked to Paul Spicer for a while about how amazing it was and how I needed him to bring this out on cd. He told me he wasn’t sure if they would, as it was chaos behind the stage. But Notes was coming out on cd :D I asked him to sign my program for me and for Kristine, who couldn’t make it. We talked about his performance in May at the dress circle and how Kristine had told him that his performance of the Last Five Years was better than the original. To which he said “ooooh I remember her! I couldn’t believe it when she said that!”and I told him it was true, because Kristine has the album and we listened to that song and agreed Paul was much better. Then I asked him for a picture, to which he replied “abso-fucking-lutely” <—– first time someone told me that :o so he hugged me to him *squeee* and we had our picture taken :D Then Ilse and I called Mark over, because he was about to leave. So he said he would come over (are we impatient much? :P ) so at the same time Sarah Earnshaw came out :D And we talked to her at how amazing she was (see, that’s why I’m not allowed to use the word anymore :P everyone is too amazing!)  then Mark came in as well and I talked to him about how glad I am that he’s in Rocky Horror at the moment because I’ve always wanted to see it :D so he told me that he was discussing for the 4 weeks before christmas, then he had 2 weeks off and he would have 4 weeks in Januari, I told him he better be on in Januari because I wanted to come see him with my birthday :D so he looks me up and down and he tells me I need to come dressed up in fishnet when I come to see him. *blink blink… you wanna see me in fishnet?* so I told him sure… And then I had my picture taken with Sarah and Mark :D Talked to Mark about Kristine as well and he signed her program for her with “Kristine, Big Kiss. Love Mark” which was just the sweetest thing. We talked to Sarah some more about when she was performing as Glinda again and she said “in December.. oh! I mean tomorrow!” so we were all like “really?! We are SO coming to see your show!!” We also talked to Julie and commented on Not In A Disney Way, how funny as hell it was :D and we had our picture taken with her too :D She just looked a little too happy in Ilse’s picture, like Julie was the fan and Ilse the star :P

So then we come back to the hostel and we found out the kiwis had left the room, so it was just us two :D yaaaay!! We talked some more and packed our bags. Then we went to sleep, because we had the alarm set for dayseating at Wicked. We woke up around 6, we got up and dressed. Around 7 we left the hostel and got some breakfast first. Then we took the tube to the Apollo Victoria theater and sat there from 8 to 10, commenting on how cold our butts were getting and what this strange sleeping guy with wet pants was doing infront of the door. But we got our seats on first row :D which was what we were going fore. Row A25, 26 and 27. Which is smack down in the middle :D Then we went to the Dress Circle and the Cyber Candy shop. I bought a cd by Annalene Beechey and some hot Tamales :D We visited Camden Lock because I wanted to buy some shirts for my brother in laws. Then we went to the Primark, I bought myself some Uggs :D we had agreed to meet Ilse at her place around 4:30. So we went there and someone was handing out pasta. Which we took and then we met up with Ilse. Ilse was doing her homework, Sophie was colouring, so I decided to make dinner. Sophie had to run down to the shop for some cheese and eggs and I cooked us dinner with the pasta we got :P we ate dinner, and then I cleaned the whole kitchen, because it was disgusting… and it wasn’t even my mess. So when that was cleaned up, it was time to go to the Apollo Theater again to see the show. Sarah Earnshaw makes one AMAZING Glinda. She is deffenitly sharing the first place in my list, with Kristin Chenoweth :D Her Popular nearly killed us, Alexia Kahdime was Elphaba and she had a good voice, but it was just a little too immature for my tastes. Elphaba is supposed to be a powerfull voice, but when I closed my eyes, Alexia’s voice reminded me of Annie o.O And Alexia had her eyes closed 95% of the show, which sucked a little if you ask me. But Sarah made up for that :D She was funny!! There were some bloopers as well, like Alexia dropping her sandwhich paper on the floor, some Shiz student having to pick up something that looked like a menu :P , Sarah who broke her magic wand during the Witch’s Fight and Alexia’s wig being ascure during Popular. But then that dredded song came up. For Good. It is a beautiful song, no doubt about it. But it always gets me right there, you know. 10 times I’ve seen Wicked, but I’ve never cried so much during For Good *part of that had to do with my aunt dying, and part of that is all Sarah, I swear* so I was sitting there, holding Sophie’s hand, crying my eyes out like a baby. So then the show is pretty much over, except for the Finale, which is super sad as well. I whiped my face with a kleenex, and we headed for the stage door. No make up on my face thank god. I talked t Sam Kelly and told him I loved him in ‘Allo Allo’ and he said people love it because we all hate Germans xD he was joking, ofc ourse, because then he said they were showing it in Germany now too :P And i had Harriet Thorpe sign the picture of us together from the day before :D She loved it so much she wanted a copy as well :D . Alexia signed it as well, but then Sarah came out and she got pretty much ignored, she asked me “did I do you all” and I was just o.O “that sounds a little rude” and we laughed, and she went on to the next people. We talked to Sarah…well I did most of the talking anyway :P And I told her how much we loved her in this Wicked performance, asked her if she saw us on the front row, which she said she did. I told her how we nearly died during Popular and how her For Good had my make up running over my cheeks. And she was so sweet saying awww thank you! the whole time **we pretty much showered her with compliments for 20 minutes** and then we asked her if she wanted to take a picture with us where Sophie and I were supposed to whisper something and she and Ilse had to look shocked. And she was up for it! The picture was amazingly funny. Sarah told some others, that called her over, to wait because she had to take “a funny picture” first :P So then she left and we had to catch up with her again, because we forgot to tell her how much we loved her Gutter Song the night before XD **you try telling Sarah how much you love everything she did the night before, when you are on a Sarah high from 10 minutes before** So she laughed and said thank you and then she had to rush off. We went back to the hostel, where new people were coming in to the room as we talked. But luckily were were flying home the next day.

On Tuesday we repacked our bags, putting all the heavy stuff in the suitcase I bought the day before.  Put all the light stuff in my handluggage and we checked out of the hostel. Then we debated what we were going to do and desided maybe the best thing was to go to the airport instead, because most places we had already seen or they wouldn’t allow bags. So we headed to the airport and waited there for hours on end before we could check in. We went through customes and i discovered I had forgotten my mp3 player >_< which sucked big time!! Then I bought some food and a new book *cos I don’t have enough of then yet o.O * and we waited and waited, got on the plane and flew home :) Where I had to wait for ha,lf an hour longer for the train because of delays.. which suuuucked. But I made it home save :D

okay enough talking… back to my other things…

Mushi Mushi!
